Bethlehem is normally the focus of Christmas. Bethlehem is where Mary couldn’t find a room in the end, Jesus was born in a manger, and the angels and shepherds came to see. But Bethlehem points to Jerusalem, the city where Jesus is crucified for the sins of the world. This Christmas we follow Mark’s account of the death and resurrection of Jesus in Jerusalem, because Christmas is really about a cross.
