We are the Calhoon family and we will be serving as missionaries to the beautiful country of Nicaragua in May of 2022. We are excited that you are interested in learning more about what we do, but more importantly about what God is doing in Nicaragua. Hardin Baptist Church has been serving in Nicaragua for nearly 15 years and in regularly going and leading short-term trips we felt the Lord call us to serve there full-time.
…and you will be my witness in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Acts 1:8
Where We Serve
Nicaragua is a country that immediately captivates visitors with its beaches, volcanoes and most of all the amazing people. In terms of land size, Nicaragua is the largest country in Central America but it is the least populous country in all of Central America as a direct result of many of the hardships Nicaraguans face. Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, next to Haiti. Although broken, the people of Nicaragua are resilient and beautiful and we desire nothing more than for them to know of a Good King who loves them and died for them. We aim to serve in Nicaragua so that they could hear of the beautiful news of the Gospel!
What We Do
Our desire is to see Nicaraguans come to know and worship Jesus! Our focus will be on planting and developing healthy Nicaraguan churches. By God’s grace, we will evangelize the lost and disciple new believers! We have seen God do amazing things in Nicaragua through the years and we know that He will continue to exalt the name of Jesus and draw people to Himself for His glory!
“Missions exists because worship doesn’t.”
